Motion Detection Mode Columbus invented the Motion Detection Mode on the V-990 in 2011 and is widely welcomed by users. The ordinary data logger still works after suspended movement or positioning failure, which consumes power and generates redundant track points. When P-1 Mark II is in a static status or has lost the satellite signal for over 5 minutes, it is automatically on standby to save energy. The Motion Detection Mode extends battery life and optimizes data. Short press the power button to turn on or off the mode.

For example, researchers intend to monitor the activities of cattle in livestock research projects, which needs to extend the battery life of the device as much as possible. P-1 Mark II can be configured as follows: Step 1: The interval time is set to 10 minutes in configuration file (SpyModeTimer=10). Complete the configuration of P-1 Mark II. Step 2: Enter the spy tracking mode. P-1 Mark II records the track points of livestock every 10 minutes. The battery life in this configuration lasts for about 20 days.
